Lap time and top speed records have always been a hot topic in the hypercar world. Although many owners don't take these cars to their full potential, it is an important marketing tool for automakers. Recently, Koenigsegg took its Jesko Attack to the Laguna Seca track and set a new lap record. Setting a time of 1:24.86, it beat the production car lap record set by the Sinkinger 21C by just 0.58 seconds.
Another notable record has recently been added to Koenigsegg's list of accomplishments. At the Gotland Ring in Sweden, the Jesko Attack recorded a lap time of 2:56.97, which is almost eight seconds faster than the Porsche 911 GT3 RS MR. This performance reflects the high acceleration and braking capability of this car.
The power of the Jesko Attack lies in its twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 engine, which produces 1,280 horsepower in regular operation. Using E85 fuel increases this output to 1,600 horsepower, and the car generates 1,106 pound-feet of torque. This engine and its power give the car exceptional performance.
The design of this hypercar is also very unique. The Jesko Attack has a large rear wing, which generates much more downforce than the standard Jesko. Koenigsegg claims that the car has a downforce of 1,764 pounds at 155 mph, which reaches 3,086 pounds at maximum speed.
The aerodynamics of the Jesko Attack also play an important role in stability at high speeds. Its aero development took about 3,000 hours, while more than 5,000 hours were spent on the overall engineering process.
Changes made to its bodywork, most notably the increase in its length by about three inches, have improved stability at high speeds. This dedication and time investment shows how a car is prepared for the highest performance on the track.
The Jesko Absolute, which is specially designed for top speed, is also offered with a different bodywork on the Attack. This design is aimed at reducing downforce and increasing the stability of the car, making it more impressive at high speeds.
